1 Thing Never To Do In Your Vacation Rental Social Marketing Strategy.

vacation rental social marketing

Vacation rental property owners are eager to get more bookings for their vacation rentals and want to dive into social marketing to help boost their bookings.

Vacation rental owners often ask me how to market their vacation homes on social networks like Facebook and Twitter. However knowing what not to do is just as important as knowing wha to do. In this blog I will share with you the biggest mistake to avoid when marketing your vacation rental on social networks.

Tip: Don’t shove your _______ (you fill in the blank) message down my throat. This is what your customer would like to tell you and just might if you don’t use social marketing the right way, how embarrassing!

I’ve seen large globally recognizable brands mess this one up, so it’s likely you will too. Property owners and managers are some of the worst offenders of this. They join a social network because they heard somewhere that social marketing can help their business and what do they do?  Blast off a million ads per minute.

I’ve seen property owners post a barrage of advertisements several times a day on social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. These types of messages are flat out annoying. They don’t offer value and they’re considered spam. Just today I received 20 posts of different properties for rent from someone in my social network, WOW… Really???  this is overwhelming and overkill. This form of advertising does not work at all on social networks. Resist the urge to do this unless you want to get ignored on social networks or have people unfriend you. Can you hear your marketing taking a nose dive?

Every week I unfollow people that load my feed with things I don’t care about. Are you guilty of this social marketing crime? If so change your approach and offer your followers useful information and watch your social marketing come back to life.
