Twitter now has over 140 million active users and over 400 million new tweets per day.
53% of people on Twitter recommend companies and/or products in their Tweets, with 48% of them delivering on their intention to buy the product.
Go to Twitter.com and create an account if you don’t already have one. When selecting a username for your account:

Tip: Choose a name using your most targeted keywords for your rental.

Tip: Follow highly relevant people; find interest groups, travelers, and organizations that are related to travel and vacation.
Tip: Follow the heavy hitters. This will open you up for more exposure and will help you keep an eye on your competition.

Tip: When is the best time to post my tweets on Twitter? It depends on the time zone of your target audience. If your audience is 5 hours ahead of you, you’ll need to consider that.
Tip: Timing is crucial to marketing on social networks. Posting links to Twitter between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. ET (or 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. PT) will give you the highest click rank. Keep the above tip in mind with these times.
Tip: Compliment people and “retweet” more than you tweet. I would suggest that you retweet 3 to 4 times more than you tweet if you would like to really take off on Twitter.
In case you didn’t know, a retweet is a message posted by a Twitter user that someone found interesting and “retweets” it, or share it on their page.

 

When someone retweets your tweet on their page, it can be seen by all of that person’s followers.

 

This is how Twitter users share information they liked on Twitter to their fans and social network.

 

Being retweeted is a compliment to the person who originally tweeted the message. J
Tip: Twitter followers love free, too. Some of the most retweeted messages I have seen have been for free offers.

Come up with ways to give away free stuff to your Twitter followers like “Free coupons to the best attractions.”
